Key Responsibilities

Management Accounts Preparation:

Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including site P&Ls, central costs, and key operational expenditure lines. Work closely with Operations Managers to review results, investigate variances, and provide meaningful financial insight and commentary to support performance improvement.


Balance Sheet Preparation:

Prepare and reconcile all balance sheet accounts to an audit-ready standard each month, ensuring full supporting documentation is maintained. Assist in reviewing the accuracy of accruals, prepayments, and other key balances, challenging assumptions where necessary.

Assist with intercompany reconciliations across group entities, ensuring all balances are fully matched and supported.


Bank Reconciliations:

Complete monthly bank reconciliations for all group accounts, working collaboratively with the IT team and General Managers to investigate and resolve reconciliation variances promptly.


Payroll Accounting:

Post monthly payroll journals and prepare detailed payroll analysis using the company’s payroll software (Fourth), ensuring payroll costs are accurately reflected in management accounts.


Annual Audit Support:

Assist the Financial Controller with the annual financial audit, including preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, tax pack information, and statutory adjustment postings.


VAT Returns:

Prepare Group and individual company VAT returns for review by the Financial Controller, ensuring timely submission to HMRC and handling any resulting queries.


Budgets and Forecasts:

Support the preparation of annual budgets, new site budgets, and quarterly reforecasts through accurate data compilation and analysis.


Ad Hoc Financial Projects:

Support ad hoc projects across the finance function, including system integrations, process improvements, and commercial finance reviews.


Ideal Candidate

  • Part qualified accountant/Finalist (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical grounding in financial and management accounting.
  • Experience in the hospitality or retail industry preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of FRS 102 and UK GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and reporting capability.
  • Experience using Sage 200 desirable but not essential.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, organised approach.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working cross-functionally with operations and head office teams.
